Yard Waste is mainly generated from the soft landscape works and vegetation maintenance by government departments and commercial establishments with extensive plantings and landscaping.

According to "Monitoring of Solid Waste in Hong Kong 2018", about 341 tonnes/day of yard waste was disposed of at landfills in 2018, accounting for 3% of Hong Kong's municipal solid waste.
